Historical & Theological Background

Christian theology has always taught a cosmic dualism—not an ultimate dualism (as in Zoroastrianism where good and evil are equal), but a temporary conflict between God's kingdom and Satan's rebellion. Satan is not God's equal; he is a created being in rebellion. The conflict is real but the outcome is certain: Christ wins.

African Contextual Commentary

Some African traditional religions recognize multiple spirits, some good, some evil, some neutral. This is false. There are only two kingdoms: God's and Satan's. There is no neutral ground, no friendly spirits apart from God. Ancestors, traditional spirits, and territorial deities are either demonic deception or human superstition. African Christians must choose: we belong either to the kingdom of light or the kingdom of darkness. There is no third option. We cannot hedge our bets by serving God while also appeasing traditional spirits.
