The Holy Scriptures
Sufficiency and Finality of Scripture
Confessional Text
All that is necessary for God's glory, man's salvation, faith, and life, is given to us in the 66 books of the Bible, to which nothing at any time is to be added - whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or the traditions of men7.

Revelation 22:18-19
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

Historical & Theological Background
The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture became especially prominent during the Reformation when Reformers declared "sola scriptura" (Scripture alone) against Rome's claim that tradition held equal authority. Scripture contains everything necessary for salvation and godliness. While the Holy Spirit continues to work today, He does not give new revelation that adds to or supersedes what has been written in the Bible. The canon is closed, and God's written revelation is complete.
African Contextual Commentary
Many African churches have been led astray by teachers claiming new revelations, additional books of Scripture, or special prophetic words that supersede biblical teaching. This statement affirms that the 66 books of the Protestant Bible are sufficient. African Christians need not seek additional revelations or rely on extra-biblical traditions. Everything necessary for knowing God, being saved, and living a godly life is found in Scripture. This provides great security and confidence: we need not fear that we are missing some secret knowledge available only to elite spiritual leaders.
