Historical & Theological Background
Satan's kingdom is organized and strategic, not chaotic. He blinds minds to the gospel, promotes false teaching, and tempts believers toward worldliness. However, his power is limited, and he operates only within God's sovereign permission. The early church fathers warned against both underestimating Satan's cunning and overestimating his power.
African Contextual Commentary
Many African Christians either live in paralyzing fear of demons or adopt a triumphalistic attitude that minimizes spiritual warfare. This statement provides balance: Satan's kingdom is real, organized, and active. He works to blind unbelievers and attack believers. However, he is not omnipotent or sovereign—God is. African believers should be alert to Satan's schemes (false teaching, worldliness, division) without becoming obsessed with demons. Our focus should be on Christ, not the enemy. The battle is won through faith, obedience, and the gospel, not through elaborate deliverance rituals.
